County Corrections
This division of the Correctional Management Institute of Texas (CMIT) offers training programs and professional development for individuals who work in the county corrections discipline. The County Corrections Advisory Council, which helps guide the development and programming for the division, is made up of individuals who work in the field, including representatives from the Sheriff’s Association of Texas, the Texas Jail Association, and the Texas Association of Counties. Under the guidance of the Advisory Council the development of new programs will continue as needs are recognized.
Programs currently offered by the County Corrections Division:
- Basic Jail Administration - an annual program offered for jail administrators with less than one year of experience in the position
- Annual Jail Management Conference - Since 1975, this program has provided knowledge on county jail operations to hundreds of attendees;
- Jail Leadership Development Program
