In 2004, the Institute created a Technical Assistance Center for the purpose of providing specialized services at no cost to institutional and community corrections agencies. During its first year of operation, the Center responded to 13 technical assistance requests throughout Texas.
The Correctional Management Institute of Texas has provided the following:
- Leadership and Management Training for Nueces County CSCD
- Staff Safety Training with Robert Thornton in Houston, Waco, Dallas, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin and soon to be in Lubbock
- Motivational Interviewing with Scott Walters in Cameron and Lubbock County
- Communications and Team Building at the Brazoria and Dallas County CSCDs
- Juvenile Detention Officer Basic Training at Hardin County
