Natalie Payne began her journey with the Correctional Management Institute of Texas in July 2004 as a Project Coordinator. Prior to working with CMIT, she worked for approximately seven and one-half years with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in various aspects to include an Institutional Parole Officer and Internal Auditor.
She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice degree in May 1999 and her Master of Arts in Criminal Justice degree in December 2005, both from Sam Houston State University.
As a project coordinator, Natalie has assisted with the various secretariats, such as the Texas Jail Association and the Texas Association for Court Administration. She has also coordinated the Mid-Management Leadership Program. Currently, she is a part of the Special Programs Division, with Joe Serio, which coordinates various trainings for all aspects of the criminal justice field. Some of the trainings include Leadership for Support Staff, Women in Criminal Justice, and Gangs.
