PROGRAM INFORMATION:

The Correctional Management Institute of Texas, at the George J. Beto Criminal Justice Center, is pleased to offer the week-long program Emerging Senior Leadership: Strategic Thinking, Decision-Making, and Emotional Intelligence. This session is a highly interactive workshop on Critical Thinking and challenges participants to examine the processes by which they consider situations and experiences to formulate decisions. It will involve learning about the types of biases we all bring to any situation and how to neutralize those biases in the critical thinking and decision-making process. It includes discussion on how we think and the thinking errors that are inherent in many critical decisions. Participants will learn about the three types of arguments used in approaching situations: emotional or moral based, policy based, and research based, in order to better understand the need for EBP and using data in our processes. The workshop concludes with an understanding of the ethical challenges inherent in criminal justice work and how critical thinking can help make us more ethical decision makers as well.

The registration fee of $750 includes the week-long training and all materials, as well as lunches and dinners. Lodging and other travel expenses are the responsibility of the participant. Breakfast is included with your stay at the University Hotel.

This program is limited to 24 participants.
