  • VICTIMS RIGHTS: THE POSITIVE IMPACT THEY CAN HAVE Just as the impact of crime on victims continues long after trial so too does victims participatory status continue through the long tail of criminal justice including the parole process. This status is codified in numerous rights afforded to victims, including the rights to be notified, present and heard at various post-conviction stages, including during parole. Ensuring these rights are meaningful is critical not only for victims but also for the proper functioning of our systems and improved outcomes for our communities. This session will identify the most common victims rights during the parole process, and discuss how to ensure that they are timely and meaningfully afforded. Speakers are from the National Crime Victim Law Institute (www.NCVLI.org), a nonprofit agency that actively promotes balance and fairness in the justice system through crime victim centered legal advocacy, education, and resource sharing.

THIS IS REGISTRATION FOR THE VICTIMS' RIGHTS: THE POSITIVE IMPACT THEY CAN HAVE SESSION ONLY

Registration fee waived for members. Link to meeting will be sent out prior to each session. The Association will conduct audits of membership lists for those who are registered. If you are not a member, you will be asked to pay $15 per session or join as an individual member ($65) to view all five at no additional cost.

Cancellation Policy:
If the participant has already paid, he/she will be refunded half the cost of the registration fee if written notice of cancellation is received by the Correctional Management Institute of Texas no later than ten (10) business days prior to the program. No refunds are available after this date, but substitutions of attendees are permitted. If no written cancellation is received and the participant does not attend the program, the participant/agency will be required to pay 100% of the registration fee if the registration fee was not previously paid.
