This one-day management workshop for Front Line Supervisors will include lecture, guided group discussion, assessments, individual and group activities and action plans and will provide specific techniques and skill practice. It will be presented on July 28, 2010 and repeated on July 29, 2010.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the qualities that supervisors must possess to increase respect and loyalty among co-workers and subordinates;
  •  Describe a “best” manager and the characteristics of superior managers;
  • Identify the differences in dress, professional development, and organizational philosophy between line staff and management and its impact on behavior;
  • Using a communication styles inventory, identify their personal communication styles and ways in which individual communication styles impact others;
  • Demonstrate methods to more effectively communicate with co-workers and staff who have different communication styles;
  • Demonstrate the most effective method to communicate agency policies and procedures to staff;
  • Identify the six steps of delegating and methods to determine how to delegate effectively;
  • Identify the components of efficient, productive, and useful meetings;
  • Identify the five  components of well-written employee performance objectives;
  • List the behaviors of a sample problem employee and their impact on the team’sproductivity

Cancellation Policy:
If the participant has already paid, he/she will be refunded half the cost of the registration fee if written notice of cancellation is received by the Correctional Management Institute of Texas no later than ten (10) business days prior to the program. No refunds are available after this date, but substitutions of attendees are permitted. If no written cancellation is received and the participant does not attend the program, the participant/agency will be required to pay 100% of the registration fee if the registration fee was not previously paid.
