The Special Programs Division of the Correctional Management Institute of Texas (CMIT) is pleased to announce Gangs Program, to be held July 29-31, 2008, in Austin, TX. This year's program will feature a former gang member who has since become a law enforcement officer, a 15-year veteran of a white supremacist group who now gives the inside story of that movement, a gangs investigator who will present on black gangs and juvenile issues, a Security Threat Group specialist from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice who will discuss gang activities and tattoos in prison and how they impact the community outside prison, and a brief session on the activities of the Russian Mafia in Texas. It is critical to understand the forces at work on those susceptible to gang influence. For that reason, a look at the telltale signs of gang membership, particularly among high school students as well as females, will be explored. Cancellation Policy:
If the participant has already paid, he/she will be refunded half the cost of the registration fee if written notice of cancellation is received by the Correctional Management Institute of Texas no later than ten (10) business days prior to the program. No refunds are available after this date, but substitutions of attendees are permitted. If no written cancellation is received and the participant does not attend the program, the participant/agency will be required to pay 100% of the registration fee if the registration fee was not previously paid.
