PROGRAM INFORMATION:
The Jail Administration Management and Operations training (JAMO) focuses on professional development of New Chief Deputies. The program allows participants to have current information, specific to Texas, about jail standards and practices, laws regarding inmate rights, budget management, and current jail issues.

CMIT will cover cost of training material, snack breaks, all meals, parking and hotel nights. Agencies are responsible for travel expenses.

ELIGIBILITY:
This training is designed for Chief Deputies who have been in their positions for no more than two years. Nominees must be from Sheriff's Offices within the state of Texas.

JAMO is not a conference or seminar where by everyone and anyone that applies will attend. This program is limited to 30 participants. Staff must be nominated by their Sheriff and nomination forms and letters of support must be submitted by the deadline.

HOW WILL NOMINEES BE SELECTED TO ATTEND?
CMIT will consider a variety of diversity issues in selecting participants. The Institute will review nominations and select qualified participants that represent a diverse selection of regions and agencies.

GUIDELINES:
Step 1 Nomination By the deadline of the designated class, nominations must be signed by the nominee's Sheriff and submitted, along with a letter of a support providing information on the nominee and how this class will benefit him/her as well as your agency or department.

Step 2 Registration Candidates will receive either a letter of acceptance or decline to attend this training 30 days prior to the start date. Those who are accepted into the program will be provided with additional class information at that time. CMIT will make hotel reservations for those accepted into the program.
Professional dress is expected.
